Dog Breeds - Alaskan Klee Kai

Return to Breed List

The Alaskan Klee Kai, also known as the miniature husky, was developed in Alaska in the 1970’s by Linda Spurlin after an Alaskan husky mated with a small dog. The word “Klee Kai” is a word that means “Small Dog” from the Alaskan Athabaskan language. The breed is a mixture of a Siberian/Alaskan Huskies and an American Eskimo or Schipperke. The result of this mix is a high energy, smart, small dog suitable for apartment living with a beautiful, northern look to it.
